Established in Los Angeles, California, in 1995, by Tim Gavin and the brothers’ Brian, Kevin, and Mike Dunlap. They make clothing and footwear for biking, snowboarding, and skateboarding. According to the founders, “DVS” doesn’t stand for anything in particular.
The company’s mission is to make technological and high-end products for their passionate customers. In 2012 the company went bankrupt; according to Gavin, the production costs rose while retail sales fell. This prevented them from at least achieving a breakeven point. However, DVS was bought by Sequential Brands Group and resumed its operations.
DVS continues to focus its products on the skateboarding arena, signing several amateurs and professional skaters like Torey Pudwill and Zack Wallin.
